Once again the Champaign County Prosecutor’s Office will conduct its annual food drive for the benefit of the Caring Kitchen in Urbana.

The food drive began on Dec. 1 and will continue through Dec. 24. Food may be donated by dropping off non-perishable items at the prosecutor’s office located in the Champaign County Common Pleas Court, 200 N. Main St.

“Our community is fortunate to have a facility like the Caring Kitchen,” Champaign County Prosecutor Kevin Talebi said. “The Caring Kitchen provides a safe shelter and a warm meal for needy adults and children. The services they provide to less fortunate members of our county are invaluable.

“Unfortunately, we have seen an increase in the need for the shelter’s services over the years and without the continued support and generosity of our community the Caring Kitchen will not be able to function at their current level. I hope that by sponsoring this food drive, we are able to help raise awareness within out community of the need for continued support of the shelter and that we are able to provide the Caring Kitchen with a stockpile of non-perishable food items that will help them get through the coming winter.”
