Although a Rush Township issue is on North Lewisburg and Woodstock ballots, votes on the issue by residents in these villages won’t be counted.
The appearance of the 0.7-mill, five-year new township levy on the villages’ Nov. 8 ballots is a mistake, according to Meredith Bodey, director of the Champaign County Board of Elections.
“We didn’t catch it when we sent it in, and we sent the information to the township and they didn’t catch it,” she said.
If approved, the levy will replace funding the township lost with the repeal of the estate tax in Ohio in 2012, Rush Township officials say. It is estimated the township brought in approximately $98,000 from that tax 2009-12. The levy would raise an estimated $20,000 annually.
