Mechanicsburg tree to honor children

Candlelight vigil held this weekend

MECHANICSBURG – A Christmas tree, in honor and in memory of children who have died, will be placed in the gazebo next to the Mechanicsburg Fire Department for the community. The tree is being donated by Bell’s Christmas Trees. Community members can place ornaments or pictures (covered in plastic) on the tree in memory of children who have died.

“I just want to help others in the time of holidays when the loss is just so much more difficult for us with the loss of a child,” said Carmela Wiant of Mechanicsburg. “Our children are always on our minds and in our hearts, so this can offer help to bring more of a memory of our children for all of us.”

The gazebo is located at 18 N. Main St., Mechanicsburg. A candlelight vigil will be held at the gazebo at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13.
