Mechanicsburg Christian Fellowship hosts Christmas Walk

MECHANICSBURG – The Christmas Walk, hosted by the Mechanicsburg Christian Fellowship, started as a community event in 2000 and grew to be an important holiday tradition for many people. The drama, an original play written and directed by Christa Wolf of Mechanicsburg, features an angel choir, live animals, a beautiful outdoor walk and nine interactive stations that depict the events surrounding the birth of Jesus.

Wolf is excited about some of the changes in this year’s Walk. “I’ve written several new scenes to keep the story fresh, and we’re also collaborating with the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church on the music,” she said. The UMC choir, under the direction of Matthew Smith, will sing on the hillside when the shepherds hear the news of Christ’s birth. Music will be performed for those in the waiting area before the walk.

The Christmas Walk is performed bi-annually at 4401 Allison Road, Mechanicsburg. Transportation will be provided for handicapped and elderly persons unable to comfortably walk the distance of the play. Show times are Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6, from 6 to 8 pm. Groups of approximately 20 people will begin every 15 minutes. The Walk lasts approximately 45 minutes. There is no charge. For further details, call 937-631-0587.
