WEST LIBERTY – West Liberty-Salem Local Schools voters will have a levy on the March presidential primary ballot.

The school board approved placing the 1 percent, three-year income tax current expenses renewal levy on the ballot at its Tuesday meeting. The levy is estimated to generate $1.3 million next year.

The school board also approved the Indoor Track and Field team as an interscholastic, self-supported program for the 2015-16 winter season. Superintendent Kraig Hissong said this is approved each year to recognize the program as affiliated with the school, but it generates its own financial support. The school district does not provide funding.

In other action, the board:

•Approved Shirley Brandt as choreographer for the musical for the 2015-16 school year at Step 3.

•Approved Molly Purdue as Junior Class Advisor (1/2) Concessions for the 2015-16 school year at Step 0.

•Approved Sophomore Class Advisors (1/2 each) Surena Neer and Margie Williams, both at Step 0, for the 2015-16 school year.

•Approved setting 6:15 p.m. Jan. 12, 2016, as the tax budget hearing and annual organizational meeting. It will be held in the middle school/high school media center.
