Urbana FFA Chapter members to compete at national level
A local FFA chapter was selected to compete for national recognition in an FFA Career Development Event at the 88th National FFA Convention & Expo.
The Urbana High School FFA Chapter will send members to Louisville, Ky., to compete in the area of Milk Quality and Products. Members representing the chapter in the event include Billie Stiltner, Ciera Marchal, Hannah Preston and Jacob Wood. The chapter advisors are Stephen Wilhelm and Mallory Zachrich.
Milk Quality and Products is one of 24 contests covering job skills in everything from communications to mechanics. Participants test milk samples for flavor and taste cheese samples as well as identify cheese characteristics. Members evaluate milk samples using the California Mastitis Test. Participants’ knowledge of milk production and marketing is assessed by a written exam.
