Champaign Family YMCA hosts annual Invest in Youth Silent Auction

0

The Champaign Family YMCA is holding its annual Invest in Youth Silent Auction starting Monday, Nov. 9, and concluding at noon Saturday, Nov. 21. Along with Y staff, this year’s event is presented by YMCA Board of Trustees members Lin Giampetro, Robin Coffey, Chris Phelps, Jill Steinmetz and Polly Long.

“Invest in Youth” is an ever-growing scholarship program that supports the Y’s commitment to providing memberships for Champaign County youths and families with financial limitations. Every dollar raised in the silent auction helps ensure that no youths are denied access to the YMCA because of an inability to pay.

Individuals and businesses can donate gift items or baskets that will be bid upon during the two-week auction. Donations could include items ideal for holiday giving, such as gift certificates, product baskets, tickets to sporting events, etc. The auction is open to the public. Simply stop at the Welcome Center to be assigned a bid number.

For more information or to donate a gift item, call the YMCA at 937-653-9622 or download a form at www.champaignfamilyymca.org in the Events page.

YMCA member Leroy Blazer, a long-time craftsman and supporter of the auction, displays his handmade and fully-functional rocking horse to Daniel, William and Brien, children of Y Daycare staffer Sarah Campbell. Blazer’s hand-crafted wooden toys and replicas are popular at each year’s auction.
