Dairy Council bolsters fund-raisers during fair

0

This year the Champaign County Dairy Council along with Minerva Dairy is sponsoring a contest and auction for those who are exhibiting cows at the Champaign County Fair and have a cow that is on DHI test. The winners of contest will be given a basket of cheese and butter from Minerva Dairy to auction off after the Jr. Dairy Show on Monday, Aug. 8. All the money raised for each basket will go to that exhibitor.

The Dairy Council is also auctioning off two baskets of cheese and butter to raise money for the Jr./Sr. Quiz Bowl Team for Champaign County and Jr./Sr. Dairy Judging Team for Champaign County. The Dairy Council and Minerva Dairy is seeking community support for this new auction to help the Dairy 4-H/FFA exhibitors.

The council is still hosting a milk sale on Thursday of the county fair to recognize the Grand Champion and Jr. Champion of each of the breeds of dairy cattle. For more information or to donate to either of the dairy auctions during the fair, supporters are asked to email Shelley Eades at [email protected] or call the Extension Office at 937-484-1526.
