NORTH LEWISBURG – Triad Local Schools will be getting a new head football coach and teacher for the upcoming school year.

The school board hired Joe Cardinal as a social studies teacher and head football coach at its Thursday meeting. He replaces Payton Printz, who resigned June 20 to take a position in Minster, Triad Superintendent Chris Piper said.

Cardinal will be paid $49,249; Printz’s salary was $59,990 when he left. The difference is due to Printz’s master’s degree and additional experience coaching. Cardinal holds a bachelor’s degree and was placed at Step 0 on the salary scale for coaching.

Cardinal comes from Nashville, Tennessee, most recently working as a coach at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, Tennessee, according to his resume. He most recently taught at Woodland Middle School in Brentwood, Tennessee. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Social Studies from Ohio University in Athens and is a former football player.

The school board also approved a five-year agreement with Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, to begin July 1. It is a routine approval updated to include the addition of a Supply Chain Management course, Piper said. The course is offered in Triad schools and taught by a Hi-Point instructor through the satellite program.
