Urbana sites on Green Energy Ohio Tour

Green Energy Ohio (GEO), a non-profit renewable energy advocate, will showcase clean energy and green design in Ohio Oct. 3-5. This 13th GEO tour stretches across 31 counties showcasing over 170 open houses at over 100 tour sites with installed solar, wind, energy efficiency and other green energy technologies.

The Southwest Ohio Tour sites include 11 private homes, five businesses,two schools and three public places. The tour is free to the public during designated times posted at the GEO web site: www.greenenergyohio.org/ost.

Visitors can choose from local sites and create a tour convenient to them.

GEO Executive Director Bill Spratley said: “The free GEO Tour is a great opportunity for Ohioans to learn first-hand about the latest in solar, wind, biomass and energy efficiency. Many previous tour-goers have adopted sustainable energy for their home, business and community and now provide their own green energy for a cleaner environment and new jobs.”

Tour sites in or close to Champaign County include:

•Bleim Residence, 232 Windsor Ave., Urbana, 4-6 p.m., Oct. 2; 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Oct. 3; 1-4 p.m., Oct. 4

•Lutz Residence, 527 E. Water St., Urbana, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Oct. 3

•Cedar Bog Nature Preserve, 980 Woodburn Road, Urbana 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Oct. 3

•Urbana University, 579 College Way, Urbana, 10 a.m.-noon, Oct. 3

•Rain Bow Farm, 9248 Detrick Jordan Road, New Carlisle, 11 a.m.-noon, Oct. 3

•Solar House at the Westcott Center, 85 S. Greenmount Ave., Springfield, 1-4 p.m., Oct. 4

•Eichelberger Residence, 4343 Selma Road, Springfield, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Oct. 4
