MECHANICSBURG – Mechanicsburg Exempted Village Schools has a renewal levy on the Nov. 3 ballot.
The school district’s 1 percent, 10-year income tax brings in an estimated $1 million annually, Mechanicsburg Treasurer Scott Maruniak said previously. The current levy expires in December 2016.
The board seeks a 10-year renewal instead of the traditional five-year renewal to reduce the frequency of voters heading to the ballot box. The district also saves money. Districts pay a portion of election costs when they place issues on ballots.
