The GrandWorks Foundation will host the Missoula Children’s Theatre program July 11-16 at the Gloria Theatre, 216 S. Main St. in Urbana.

Open auditions will be held for “Rapunzel” from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, July 11, at the theater. All students in grades kindergarten through 10th grade are invited to audition. Those auditioning should arrive at 9:45 a.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

Missoula Children’s Theatre tour directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day. “Rapunzel” will be presented on Friday, July 15, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 16, at 3 p.m. at the Gloria Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at the Gloria Theatre during rehearsal hours.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre, the nation’s largest touring children’s theater program, has been touring extensively for more than 40 years in the United States, Canada, and around the world. A tour team arrives in a given community with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play except the cast.

Following auditions, the show is rehearsed throughout the week and the cast presents the show during two public performances at the end of the week. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are attained through participation in this unique, educational program.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency in Urbana is presented by the GrandWorks Foundation. For more information, call the Gloria Theatre at 937-653-4853 or visit www.grandworksfoundation.org.
