Graham school board looking to replace buses

ST. PARIS – Graham Local Schools board approved advertising to purchase two new buses at its Monday meeting.

The board also approved hiring an administrative assistant for the transportation and maintenance department.

The board authorized seeking bids to purchase two buses by the end of the current school year. The buses are estimated to cost $80,500 each, Treasurer Judy Geers said.

The administrative assistant hire is to be effective Oct. 12, 2015.

In other action, the board:

•Accepted donations of $2,000 from Steve Prince to the Graham Athletic Department for scoreboard materials, $300 from the Graham Boosters to the Graham Athletic Department for volleyball and $250 from the Graham Boosters to the Graham Athletic Department for cheerleading.

•Accepted the resignation of lunchroom worker Melissa Reed, effective Aug. 28, 2015.

•Approved hiring Varsity Cross Country (Boys and Girls) Head Coach Sheila Prill, Varsity Golf (Girls) Head Coach Anthony Metzler, and Fall Strength Coach Richard Randall, all for the 2015-16 school year.

•Approved a $75 stipend per GOAL student per semester enrolled in the online elective courses for the 2015-16 school year for GOAL teachers.

•Approved hiring JV Volleyball Assistant Coach Darcie Zirkle, MS Volleyball Head (7th) Assistant Coach Amy McDaniel, and Cheerleading and HS Head Football Coach LeAnna Durbin, for the 2015-16 school year.

•Approved the FCCLA Officer Team-FCS trip for Heartland Conference and Retreat Center, Marengo, Oct 12-13.

•Approved the Graham and Triad Ag Ed/FFA trip to the National FFA Convention, Louisville, Kentucky, Oct. 28-31.
