Crowl Road in Adams Township will be closed to through-traffic between Friend Road and Cemetery Road starting Monday, Sept. 14, for approximately two days for the installation of a 36-inch reinforced concrete culvert. Funding is through the county engineer’s share of motor vehicle and license fees and gasoline tax.
Smith Road in Johnson Township will be closed to through-traffic between Dump Road and Heck Hill Road starting Wednesday, Sept. 16, for approximately two days for the installation of a 48-inch reinforced concrete culvert. Funding is through the county engineer’s share of motor vehicle and license fees and gasoline tax.
Alicia Titus Memorial Peace Fund holds 2015 ‘Day of Service’
The Alicia Titus Memorial Peace Fund invites all to participate in a “Day of Service” between Sept. 6 and 1. This service could be in the name of someone who died on 9/11/01 or as a result of wars and violence since 9/11. If interested in helping those in need during this period, contact [email protected] for a list of places to volunteer. On Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon, all are invited to participate in the Urbana City Project to help with the Railroad Street and Simon Kenton Trail cleanup. Volunteers will gather at West Light and Railroad streets for T-shirt pickup and supply distribution.
UU to launch Pollinator Positive Project
Urbana University intends to launch a Pollinator Positive Project on the 128-acre campus. Led by Dr. Tingting Cai, the project includes a pollinator trail for honey bees, interpretive signage and maintaining the converted tallgrass prairie through burning, reseeding and invasive species control. A grant from the Levin Family Foundation will go toward this effort.
