Champaign County Sheriff’s deputies responded to two crashes Tuesday including one injury crash.

Deputies responded to the area of 11907 state Route 161 at state Route 4 in Goshen Township at 11:41 a.m. on a report of an automobile accident with injuries. Dispatch advised the crash occurred at the cross over.

Mechanicsburg Fire and EMS along with Northeast Champaign County EMS responded to the accident.

An investigation into the crash revealed a gray 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Jackie N. Sisco, 32, of Spring Valley, was travelling northbound on state Route 4 when the driver failed to yield at the cross over at state Route 161, striking a white 2005 Ford Focus driven by Jeffrey B. Gaver, 30, of Springfield.

Gaver was travelling south on state Route 4.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage with air bag deployment.

Sisco was transported by the Northeast Champaign County EMS to Memorial Hospital, Marysville, before she was treated and released on Tuesday afternoon.

Gaver was transported to Springfield Regional Hospital where he was listed in stable condition on Tuesday afternoon. No update on his condition was available at the time of publication.

The crash was under investigation by the sheriff’s office.

Deputies also responded to a three-vehicle crash at 3:03 p.m. in Salem Township in the area of U.S. North 68 at Herr Road. West Liberty Fire along with the Urbana Fire Division responded to the crash.

An investigation into the crash showed that a blue 2012 Honda Civic driven by Cori Levingston, 21, of Zanesfield, was travelling northbound on U.S. 68. Ahead of Levingston was a white 2007 Pontiac Vibe driven by John H. Ormsbee, 60, of West Liberty, who was stopped in the northbound lane waiting for a 2002 red Dodge pick-up truck driven by Richard A. Scott, 52, who was stopped to turn left onto Herr Road.

Levingston failed to slow down, striking Ormsbee’s vehicle and causing Ormsbee’s vehicle to strike the hitch of Scott’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

Levingston was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
