MECHANICSBURG – An inmate at the Tri-County Regional Jail was listed in fair condition after she jumped from stairs in the jail Wednesday.

According to Miami Valley Hospital officials, Kaylee Payne, 22, was listed in fair condition as of Thursday afternoon.

Mechanicsburg Police Chief John Alexander stated the call for service came in at 5:31 p.m. on Wednesday.

Jail Executive Director Scott Springhetti said Payne tried to jump from the upper tier to the lower tier area. He said after the jump, Payne was attended to by jail staff and Mechanicsburg EMS responded to the jail.

Payne was transported to the Dayton hospital via CareFlight.

Springhetti said Payne was in jail from Madison County.

Alexander said the incident was still under investigation.
