North Lewisburg to perform hydrant flushing

NORTH LEWISBURG – The village will perform hydrant flushing this week starting on Monday and running through Friday.

The announcement was made last week during the regular council meeting on May 10.

Village Administrator Andy Yoder said during the meeting this is the first hydrant flushing performed in the village this year so there would probably be some disruption in the system, discoloration and low pressure.

Village to hold Memorial Day parade

Mayor Cheryl Hollingsworth said the village will hold a Memorial Day parade starting at 10:30 a.m. She invited individuals who are interested in participating in the parade to contact Bart Stokes.

Hollingsworth said the village was gathering a list of veterans in the village to include them in the parade.

In other action:

•Yoder said the village contracted with IGS Energy for electric supply at a rate of .0545 per kilowatt hour. The contract runs through May 2019.

•Hollingsworth said Champaign County has been awarded Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) grant funds to help low-to-moderate income homeowners make improvements to their homes. People who are interested in learning more about the home repair programs available can contact the Champaign County CHIP Office located in the city of Urbana’s municipal building, 205 S. Main St. Applicants are asked to call (937) 652-5158 to set up an appointment or receive an application.

•Yoder reiterated the village will spray for mosquitoes and the remaining dates are May 20, June 3, June 17, July 1, July 15, July 29, Aug. 12, Aug. 26, Sept. 9 and Sept. 23.
