Vendor deadline Aug. 28 for Fish & Shrimp Fest

Time is running out to apply to be a food or retail vendor at the 14th annual Ohio Fish and Shrimp Festival to be held Sept. 18-20 at Freshwater Farms of Ohio, just north of Urbana, at 2624 N. U.S. Route 68.

The Aug. 28 application deadline also applies to schools, churches and other nonprofit organizations that want to raise money for their causes. The vendor fee will be refunded to participating nonprofit organizations the week after the festival.

In addition, the festival will provide free booth space to Champaign County Farmers Market vendors.

The vendor application form is on the Ohio Fish and Shrimp Festival website, fwfarms.com/festival/participate.

“Because the Ohio Fish and Shrimp Festival attracts thousands of guests, nonprofit groups find it’s an excellent and fun way to raise money and awareness,” said Dr. Dave Smith, president of Freshwater Farms of Ohio.

The festival – at Ohio’s largest indoor fish hatchery – celebrates the Ohio freshwater shrimp harvest and features freshly harvested shrimp, fish and other foods, along with three days of live music, self-guided tours of the fish hatchery and live animal exhibits, sturgeon petting zoo, trout feeding, sand castle play zone, shrimp peeling and eating contest, the fish farm market and fresh shrimp sales.

Festival hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18; 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20.
