ST. PARIS – Area youths are invited to a free Youth Fishing Derby at Kiser Lake State Park marina on Saturday, June 13, beginning at 9 a.m. Sponsored by Ohio State Parks, the event is for participants under age 18.
Participants will fish at the marina and prizes will be awarded in a variety of age groups for most fish caught. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to assist younger anglers. Participants must be present at noon to be eligible to win. The marina is on Kiser Lake Road near the beach.
For youths under 16, parents may only assist with casting their lines. Participants must hook and reel the fish unassisted. Youths 16 and older must have valid fishing licenses.
In addition to the derby, naturalist staff will feature a variety of fishing-related materials and activities for attendees, such as fish identification brochures and knot-tying skills.
