The Urbana Community ParkFest will return this summer to Melvin Miller Park, following last summer’s successful festival, which drew hundreds of children, teens and adults for live music, food, pool parties and athletic tournaments.
The festival, July 8 and 9, is being planned by the Urbana Parks and Recreation Department, assisted by community partners and business sponsors.
“ParkFest is a great opportunity for everyone to come together as a community and enjoy the range of recreational facilities Melvin Miller Park has to offer – the tennis courts, swimming pool, pond, disc golf course, bike trail, ball diamonds, basketball courts, outdoor stage and more,” Chris Stokes, superintendent of the Urbana Parks and Recreation Department, said.
The festival will begin Friday evening, July 8, and continue all day Saturday, July 9. Events planned so far include:

Music by Honey Compass, 6 to 10 p.m.
Classic car cruise-in
Public pool party
Saturday, July 9
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Passport to Fishing class, which provides children instruction and a free pole, followed by a fishing derby sponsored by Ohio Bass Masters
Inflatables, sponsored by the Champaign County Ministerial Association. A rock wall, zip line and high ropes course planned.
Huntsman Elite 3-on-3 basketball tournament
Sand volleyball tournament
Tennis tournament
Disc golf tournament
2-mile run by the Champaign Family YMCA
High Point Sports 8U-14U baseball and softball tournament all weekend
Ebert Entertainment DJ, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Punt, Pass and Kick
Urbana celebrity dunk tank
Evening pool party, which will kick off community Week of Hope activities sponsored by local churches
Music by the Muleskinner Band, 4 to 5:30 p.m. and Allison Road Band, 6 to 10 p.m.
Urbana Fire Division water games
Food vendors, a beer and wine garden featuring St. Ives Winery of Champaign County, corn hole and promotional and informational booths by local businesses will be available both days.
