0

Cedar Bog Nature Preserve will celebrate Earth Day with a nature-focused art show and free admission all day. See artists with unique wares, earth friendly information and the beginning of the blooming season at Cedar Bog. The eighth annual Earth Day Art Show will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30, with a Bike Tour in the morning.

The event, which is free to the public, will include displays from local and regional artists who will also sell their work. Guests can also take a walk on the boardwalk and take photos of the many spring flowers, which are in full bloom. Free naturalist-led tours will also be available on the hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will also be a native plant sale during this event and all proceeds support field trips to Cedar Bog.

Art on display includes jewelry, paintings, photography, wood and fabric art.

To start the Earth Day Art Show off, a “Bike to the Bog” bike tour will be held for those who pre-register by contacting Cedar Bog at [email protected]. Starting at Cedar Bog, registration will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 30. Cost is $10 per person and $25 per family. This family-friendly bike tour event will take place on the Simon Kenton Bike Path that borders the Cedar Bog Nature Preserve. This 8-mile journey will take cyclists to The Depot Coffeehouse in Urbana and return back to Cedar Bog to enjoy the Earth Day Art Show festivities and free admission on the boardwalk. All proceeds from this event will support offsetting expenses for area children to attend field trips to Cedar Bog. This is a chance to start Earth Day off right by “Biking to the Bog” and support area schools at the same time.

In addition to the Earth Day festivities, Cedar Bog Nature Preserve will hold its regular Second Saturday Program with Dave Nolin on “What Good are Wetlands?” on Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m. at the Cedar Bog Education Center. Admission fees apply for the April 9 program. The admission fees for the April 9 program are $10 per person or $5 for Ohio History Connection members (OHC), Cedar Bog Association (CBA) members, or children aged 6-12 years old. Children 5 and under are admitted free.

The Cedar Bog Nature Preserve is located at 980 Woodburn Road, 4 miles South of Urbana off of U.S. Route 68. For more information on events at Cedar Bog, please call 937-484-3744 or email [email protected].
