On Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. until noon, Sergeant Shawn Schmidt and Officer Major Stratton of the Urbana Police Division along with Kroger + health Pharmacist Anthony Mendes provided a Drug Take Back event for our citizens to use to dispose of old or unused prescription medications properly.

The team collected 39 pounds of medications from citizens that will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). This program helps us to keep the community safe by keeping old or unused drugs from being used inappropriately and makes sure that they are disposed of properly.

The Urbana Police Division also has a permanent Drug Drop-box located in the vestibule area of the City Municipal building found inside of the Market Street entrance that can be used year-round to get rid of these medicines safely and properly.
