WL-S, UHS earn victories in girls hoops

WEST LIBERTY – Ava Astorino scored a game-high 10 points as WL-S defeated Greeneview, 33-14, in OHC girls basketball.

WL-S led, 12-6, at the half.

For the Tigers (7-6, 5-3), Chaley Wade had 8 points and Lilly Weaver added 7.

WL-S won the jayvee game, 24-8. For the Tigers, Briley Sullivan had 7 points.

The Tigers host Cedarville today.

Urbana wins

SPRINGFIELD – Peyton Mounce had 16 points and 14 rebounds as Urbana beat Northeastern, 45-16, in non-league girls basketball.

UHS led, 27-4, at the half.

For the Hillclimbers (8-4), Alex Dixon added 13 points.

UHS hosts Indian Lake today.

Triad falls

DeGRAFF – Riverside rallied to down Triad, 68-37, in non-league girls basketball.

Triad led, 24-21, at the half.

For the Cardinals (1-11, 1-7), Abbey Overfield had 14 points, Madi Cox had 7 points, Emma Ferguson had 7 points, Ashlyn McCoy had 8 rebounds and Mia LeMay added 7 points.

Riverside won the jayvee game, 33-16. For Triad, Hannah Russell had 7 points, Bre Parsons had 5 points and Arlo Monroe added 8 rebounds.

Triad hosts Springfield Catholic Central today at 7:30 p.m.

JH basketball

The Urbana 7th grade girls lost to Jonathan Alder, 26-24. Alayna Toney led UJHS with 16 points.

The Urbana 8th grade girls won, 30-26. Brylee Spriggs had 10 points for UJHS.

Urbana’s 8th grade boys downed Jonathan Alder, 40-31. For UJHS, Kaden Underwood had 11 points and Grady Lantz and Larkin Moore each had 10.

Urbana’s 7th grade boys lost, 37-25. Drew Dixon had 14 points for UJHS.

The WL-S 7th grade girls beat Cedarville, 25-21. For the Tigers, Addi Wallen had 11 points.

WL-S’s 8th grade boys topped Cedarville, 47-35, in OT. For the Tigers, Sutton Wilcoxon had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals, Tucker Searles had 9 points and 8 rebounds and Braden Hershberger added 8 points and 5 rebounds.
