With a theme of “Puttin’ On The Ritz,”this year’s Fashion to a Tea will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Champaign County Fairgrounds with doors opening at 5 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by Breast Friends Forever of Champaign County, a not-for-profit group whose mission is “To educate, empower, encourage, and embrace all who are at risk for breast cancer.” Chairperson for Breast Friends Forever is Kris Campbell, a Mechanicsburg teacher, mom, wife and survivor. Mercy Health – Urbana Hospital is also a co-sponsor.

This year marks the 20th annual Fashion to a Tea and the program will have a slightly more formal atmosphere than in years past. Beginning at 5 p.m., silent auction items will be available for bids and patrons can tour the new Mobile Mammography unit. At 6 p.m., dinner will be served, provided by K Family Concessions & Catering.

The event’s main feature is a fashion show exhibiting stylish ensembles modeled by area breast cancer survivors and/or family members. Additionally, guests will learn about the mobile mammography unit and how it improves outreach to the community. The speaker will be Selena Kemper RT, Mammography Supervisor for Springfield Regional Imaging Center.

Fashion to a Tea is an opportunity to learn about early detection of breast cancer and the newest advances in breast cancer research. Tickets are $15 and are on sale at Gentle Care Health Center in Mechanicsburg, Perpetual Federal Savings Bank in Urbana, Champaign Family YMCA in Urbana, Mercy Health – Urbana Hospital, Springfield Regional Cancer Center, and First Central National Bank in St. Paris.
