Rain wins again at Shady Bowl Speedway

DeGRAFF – Rain once again forced Shady Bowl Speedway promotor Rick Young to cancel Saturday’s racing program. Two basically all-day rains left the speedway an absolute mess. The parking lot became just a huge mudhole and the track itself did not fare well at all. No date has been announced for the makeup for the Lewis Memorial.

Young will try again this Saturday with the Blackford 55 set to take place. The 55-lap late model feature paying $1,555 to win will honor the memory of Buster and Bussie Blackford. The father and son team dominated short track racing everywhere they unloaded their familiar red #55 stock cars. In a side note, Bud Perry of Edgerton will return to Shady Bowl for this event. The former track champion will fill in for defending track champion Mike Ward. Ward has been sidelined with a medical issue.

The Vores Compact Traveling Series will also see action. Indiana driver Justin Brown won the first event held earlier in the season.

The modifieds, street stocks, pure stocks and spectator drag races are also on the schedule.
