2 Ohio school superintendents indicted in child rape case
BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (AP) — Two Ohio school superintendents have been indicted on charges related to what authorities say are sexual assault allegations involving a girl under age 13.
Online records show 52-year-old Patrick O’Donnell and 46-year-old Heather O’Donnell, both of Lewistown, were in the Logan County Jail after their arrests Tuesday.
Patrick O’Donnell, superintendent of the Indian Lake Local Schools, was indicted Tuesday on rape, sexual battery and gross sexual imposition charges. Heather O’Donnell is charged with child endangering. She’s superintendent of Midwest Regional Education Services Center in Bellefontaine.
The Springfield News-Sun reports that a police affidavit says the girl alleged Patrick O’Donnell touched her inappropriately while his wife failed to report the allegations to police.
Patrick O’Donnell’s attorney didn’t return calls Wednesday. Court records don’t list an attorney for his wife.
County administrator suspended without pay
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio county administrator married to a pastor facing child sex trafficking charges has been suspended from her position for “failure of good behavior.”
The Lucas County Board of Commissioners suspended Laura Lloyd-Jenkins on Tuesday. The 30-day suspension without pay and is scheduled to begin next Monday.
Lloyd-Jenkins is married to the Rev. Cordell Jenkins, the founder and pastor of Abundant Life Ministries in Toledo. Jenkins was indicted in April on child sex trafficking and production of child pornography charges. He has pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court.
Lloyd-Jenkins resigned from her position on the county’s Children Services board after taking a leave of absence in April following her husband’s indictment.
She didn’t return phone calls requesting comment.
Ohio police shoot bank robbery suspect
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio police shot a bank robbery suspect and took him into custody after he held three people hostage at a Taco Bell.
Police say the 18-year-old was armed with a gun and wore a vest imitating an explosive device when he robbed a PNC Bank in Columbus Tuesday.
The Columbus Dispatch reports the suspect tossed money toward a group of sixth- to eighth-grade boys at summer camp as he ran from the bank.
Columbus Police converged on the suspect at an apartment complex. Police say an officer fired shots at the suspect as he stood on the second floor balcony.
Police say the suspect ran to a Taco Bell after being struck in the abdomen, briefly holding employees hostage. He surrendered and is currently hospitalized in unknown condition.
Coroner IDs man whose body pulled from pond in Ohio
WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) — Authorities have identified a 19-year-old man whose body was pulled from a southwestern Ohio pond where a car also was found submerged.
The Butler County coroner on Tuesday identified the man as Kelvin Tabiri, of West Chester. His body was found Monday in the retention pond near a business in West Chester Township, just north of Cincinnati.
West Chester police say a dive team was called shortly after noon Monday, after someone at the business noticed damage to landscaping. Authorities also say tire tracks could be seen leading into the retention pond.
Crews used sonar to locate the body in the pond after the car was pulled from the water.
The coroner has ruled the primary cause of death as drowning. Police say the investigation is continuing.
