OSU Extension in Clark County holds event at Reaver Farms Orchard

SPRINGFIELD – The Ohio State University Extension in Clark County will present the Focus on Local Speaker Series. Meet local food producers, hear about their businesses and/or farms and their philosophy about the importance of “local”for people and their communities.

From 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, experience Reaver Farms Orchard, 1851 Summerford Road, South Charleston. This farm started in 1996 and is home to 100 beehives and over 1,000 fruit trees, including 275 peach trees. Witness Mark Reaver pressing apple cider for visitors to sample.

All are welcome. Master Gardener Volunteers will receive 1 CEU credit for each hour attended at each Focus on Local Speaker Series event.

Plant & Barn Sale

The Master Gardeners of Clark County’s Plant & Barn Sale will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 6 to offer annuals, perennials, succulents, vegetables, herbs and trees. Browse the Barn Sale to shop for used garden items. A team of Master Gardener Volunteers will be on hand to help select plants for gardens, answer questions and provide information on upcoming garden events.

The event will be held at the Snyder Park Clubhouse, 1900 Snyder Park Road, Springfield. It is located in the new, developing Snyder Park Gardens and Arboretum near the Central Bark dog park. All proceeds go to support the Master Gardeners of Clark County programs.
