Hoopla for Chili Fest!

Browsers at the Chili Festival admire a display of black cat decorations during Saturday’s Chili Festival. Downtown Urbana’s immediate two blocks to the north from Monument Square on Main Street were filled with vendor tents, food trucks, chili and salsa contests, entertainment, a beer garden and a dunk tank.

Local businessman Steve Upchurch taunts the crowd during the Dunk Tank event on Saturday. Upchurch was dunked early and often as he mocked paying customers by pretending to talk on his cell phone and read magazines while perched precariously on the hot seat. The target was pelted with well-aimed softballs that kept the spirited Upchurch drenched during the Chili Festival in downtown Urbana.
