WL-S earns sweep of Cardinals

West Liberty-Salem defeated Triad, 3-0, in OHC softball on Friday.

Kelsey Day got the win with 7 strikeouts for WL-S. She also was 1 for 2 with a solo home run. Kiana Reames was 1 for 2 with a solo homer, Mady Stratton was 3 for 3 with a triple and an RBI and Emily Schultz was 2 for 3.

For Triad, Shelby Sheets had a double.

Triad (12-8, 8-4 OHC) plays at North Union on Saturday. WL-S plays at Wapakoneta on Monday.

WL-S wins in baseball

Thomas Allen’s arm and Chase Humphrey’s bat led West Liberty-Salem to a 2-0 victory over Triad on Friday in OHC baseball.

Humphrey singled in the third inning, driving in the first run of the game. Allen kept Triad off the scoreboard pitching 6 2/3 innings of shutout baseball. Allen gave up only 2 hits and struck out four . Bryce Jones delivered a big RBI in the 5th on a base hit to put the Tigers up for good. Levi Moell and Thomas Allen also had hits for the Tiger offense.

The Tigers (10-9, 7-6) play Cedarville on Tuesday at 5/3rd field in Dayton. Admission is free and the game will start at 4:30 p.m.

Cedarville beat West Liberty-Salem, 2-1, in OHC baseball on Thursday.

Tyler Louden, Ben Hyland and Thomas Allen had the only hits for the Tigers.

The jayvee squad beat Riverside, 14-4, on Thursday.

Tanner Workman was 3 for 4 with a double, Ian Clark was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and Cayden Whitman was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

The WL-S jayvees beat Triad, 14-4.

Zech Gluckle was the winning pitcher and was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored.

Urbana baseball loses

Northwestern defeated Urbana, 5-4, in CBC/MRD baseball on Friday. The game was a continuation of a rain-delayed contest from earlier in the season.

Skyler Reisinger was 2 for 4 with a double and a pair of RBI, Trenton Dunham was 2 for 2 with an RBI and Seth Mangus was 2 for 4.

Urbana softball falls

In Thursday’s 11-3 loss to Kenton Ridge, Urbana’s Kaylee Moffitt was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI and Sara Lingrell was 2 for 3 with a triple.

Graham softball loses

Shawnee beat Graham 6-2 in CBC softball on Thursday.

For GHS, Melany Robbins was 3 for 4 with an RBI, Mallory Roberts was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Ashton Curnutte was 2 for 2 and Morgan Rush was 1 for 3. Roberts took the loss.

Mechanicsburg softball wins

Mechanicsburg defeated Southeastern 3-1 in OHC softball on Friday.

Macy Powell had a double and an RBI, Miranda Lauchard had a pair of doubles and an RBI and Elysha Stapleton had an RBI and struck out 10 batters.

MHS (10-6) plays at Triad on Tuesday.

Indians baseball loses

Southeastern defeated Mechanicsburg 2-0 in OHC baseball on Friday.

Corey Bogan took the loss, moving MHS to 13-5 on the year.

UHS tennis prevails

Unbeaten Urbana defeated Greenon, 5-0, in CBC boys tennis on Friday.

UHS (12-0, 7-0) lost only two games in the entire match.

Junior high track

The WL-S junior high girls’ track team won the Graham Invitational.

Winning events for the Tigers were Gracie Serna (discus), Camrin Rice (100H, long jump), Kate Stapleton (800, 1,600) and the 4×200 team of Megan Dillon, Lydia Moell, Sophie Cole and Gracie Estes. Serna set a school record in the discus throw.

The boys’ team also won the meet. Nick Burden (1,600), the 4×200 team of Ethan Cole, Ethan Larson, Isaiah McGill and Ian Wolfe and the 4×400 team of Cole, Burden, Wolfe and Larson all broke school records and won their events. Cole also won the 110-meter hurdles.
