COLUMBUS, Ohio – A trio of Ohio State wrestlers – Graham High School Micah Jordan, Jake Ryan and Myles Martin – were named to the Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie Team. It marks the second consecutive year that Ohio State has placed three on the list, following up appearances last year by Kyle Snyder, Graham graduate Bo Jordan and Nathan Tomasello.

Micah Jordan fell just one win shy of All-America status at the NCAA Championships but still managed to put together a standout rookie campaign that saw him earn the No. 1 seed at the Big Ten Championships in addition to winning a CKLV title in December. Jordan (27-4) won 20 of his first 21 matches this year at 141 pounds and rebounded from a quarterfinal loss at Big Tens to pin second-seeded Tommy Thorn of Minnesota in the third-place match.

Stickley goes to Vegas

Ten members of the University of Wisconsin wrestling team are set to compete in the UWW Junior Greco-Roman and Freestyle National Championships in Las Vegas, Nev., through Saturday.

That tally of Badgers includes seven true freshmen competing in the championships, including David Chadd, Michael Cullen, Cole Martin, Mason Reinhardt, Hunter Ritter, Graham High School graduate Eli Stickley and Ben Stone.

“We’ve been putting in a lot of preparation ever since the season ended. We’ve been wrestling and lifting multiple times a week to prepare ourselves for the juniors,” Stickley said.

In addition, UW sophomore Johnny Jimenez and redshirt freshmen Ryan Christensen and Jens Lantz will also be contending.

The first session of the championships runs from 5-9 p.m. (ET) on Friday for preliminaries and consolations. On Saturday, the second session takes place for preliminaries, quarterfinals and consolations from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., followed by the third and final session for semifinals, consolations, consolation semifinals and the first-, third-, fifth- and seventh-place matches, which will start at 4 p.m.
