WL-S girls win home track meet

WEST LIBERTY – The WL-S girls track squad won a six-team meet Monday with 204 points. Greeneview was second with 116 points. On the boys’ side, WL-S was fourth with 67 points. Cedarville won the event with 143 points.

Winning events for the Tigers’ girls were Jenna Magnuson (shot put, discus), Caylee Karg (100H, 300H), Morgan Freyhof (100, 200), Reghan Bieleski (1,600, 800), Janie Kopus (400), the 4×800 relay team of Katie Hartsel, Kaylee Harrison, Leah Cole and Bieleski, the 4×200 team of Karg, Taylor Lauck, Kopus and Freyhof and the 4×400 team of Karg, Cole, Freyhof and Kopus.

Earning second were Janie Kopus (pole vault), Leah Cole (400), Taylor Lauck (200), Lauren Fowler (3,200) and the 4×100 team of Addy Johnson, Paige Shafer, Hailey Duncan and Rachel McGill.

Taking third was Addy Johnson (100H).

Winning events for the boys was Joey Adams (1,600, 3,200).

Earning third were Charlie Williams (shot put, discus), Brandon Wolfe (long jump), the 4×200 relay team and the 4×100 relay team.

M’burg softball wins

MECHANICSBURG – Mechanicsburg defeated Greeneview, 14-0, in five innings of OHC softball on Monday.

For the Indians, Jessica Maddux was 2 for 3 with a double and a triple, Mary Mayo had a double and an RBI, Elysha Stapleton was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI and Allie Raber was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI.

M’burg (6-2) plays at Northeastern today.

MHS baseball wins

MECHANICSBURG – Mechanicsburg defeated Greeneview, 12-8, in OHC baseball on Monday.

For the Indians, Colton McMannis was 2 for 2 with an RBI and 2 runs scored, Corey Bogan was 2 for 4 with 4 RBI and a run scored, Caleb Newsome was 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run and Tim Miller was 3 for 4 with an RBI and 2 runs. Drew Myers got the win.

M’burg (9-2, 4-2 OHC) plays at Northeastern today.

Graham softball wins

SPRINGFIELD – Graham defeated Northwestern, 3-1, in 8 innings of CBC softball.

For the Falcons, Alyssa Theodor was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Marley Brandyberry was 1 for 3 with a double and Morgan Rush was 1 for 3 with a game-winning RBI triple. Madison Bryant got the win.

Graham (10-2, 8-0 CBC) hosts Northwestern today.

Tigers win in softball

WEST LIBERTY – WL-S beat Cedarville, 23-0, in five innings of OHC softball on Monday.

For the Tigers, Kenedie Cox was 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles, Kelsey Day was 3 for 4 with a double and Kiana Reames was 3 for 4 with two doubles.

Triad baseball wins

NORTH LEWISBURG – Triad defeated Northeastern, 6-5, in OHC baseball on Monday.

For the Cardinals, Tim Marsalis was 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBI, including a walk-off two-run double in the 7th inning with the bases loaded. Alec Ober stole home in the 6th inning.

Triad (10-2) plays at Catholic Central today.

Triad softball loses

NORTH LEWISBURG – Northeastern beat Triad, 11-0, in five innings of OHC softball on Monday.

Maddi Collier and Jenna Ober shared the pitching duties for Triad.

The Cardinals (7-4, 3-2 OHC) play at Catholic Central today.

Urbana baseball loses

Indian Lake beat Urbana, 7-2, in CBC baseball on Monday.

Caleb Peterson was 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Hillclimbers, while Kaleb Bowdle was also 2 for 4. Seth Mangus was 1 for 2 and drew 2 walks and Dillon Watkins doubled.

Urbana (6-6) is back at it again with Indian Lake today.

UHS tennis wins

Urbana swept Stebbins, 5-0, in CBC boys tennis on Monday.

In first singles, Mklaine Eggleston won 6-0, 6-1. In second singles, Andrew Fansler won 7-5, 6-0. In third singles, Langston Kitchen won 6-2, 6-1.

Nick Shank and Greg Coffey won first doubles 6-0, 6-2 and Wes Brown and Bailey Ullah won second doubles 6-1, 6-3.

Urbana moves to 5-0 on the season and 4-0 in the CBC.

Falcons’ jayvee wins

Graham swept West Liberty-Salem, 12-11 and 13-7, in non-league jayvee baseball.

For WL-S, Tyler Gardner was 3 for 5 with a double and 3 RBI in the first game and Jacob VanHorn had 2 RBI in the second game.

Junior high track

The West Liberty-Salem junior high boys track team placed 2nd out of 16 teams at the Ben Logan Invitational.

Earning first place were Ethan Cole (110 hurdles, 200H), Nick Burden (1,600) and the 4×400 relay team.
