UHS tops Tecumseh in baseball

NEW CARLISLE – Urbana beat Tecumseh, 12-4, in a CBC non-divisional baseball contest on Thursday.

For UHS, Seth Mangus was 3-for-5 with 4 RBI, Kaleb Bowdle was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, Dillon Watkins was 2-for-5 with an RBI, Skyler Reisinger was 2-for-5 with an RBI and Trenton Dunham was 1-for-2. Watkins, Mangus and Reid Taylor each doubled.

Bowdle picked up the win, throwing a complete game with 9 strikeouts.

Urbana took command with a 9-4 lead after three innings, then tacked on three runs in the 7th for insurance.

UHS (5-5) plays at Graham today in a make-up game.

MHS softball wins

JAMESTOWN – Mechanicsburg defeated Greeneview, 5-1, in OHC softball on Thursday.

For the Indians, Mary Mayo was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Haley Stepek was 3-for-4 with a double, Allie Raber was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Jessica Maddux had 3 RBI.

M’burg (5-1, 3-1 OHC) hosts West Liberty-Salem today.

Indians win in baseball

JAMESTOWN – Mechanicsburg defeated Greeneview, 13-1, in five innings of OHC baseball on Thursday.

For the Indians, Corey Bogan was 3-for-3 with a triple, 3 RBI and 2 runs. He also got the win, striking out 9 batters. Colton McMannis was 2-for-4 with a triple, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored, Tim Miller was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and 2 runs scored and Jordan Mapes was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored.

“Offensively, we’re putting ourselves in good hitter’s counts and putting ourselves in good positions at the plate,” M’burg Coach Bryan Eyink said.

M’burg (6-1, 3-1 OHC) hosts West Liberty-Salem today.

Falcons win in softball

Graham defeated Stebbins, 16-2, in CBC non-divisional softball on Thursday.

For GHS, Adrianna Hicks was 3-for-3 with 2 RBI, Mallory Roberts was 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and got the win, Morgan Rush was 2-for-3, Alyssa Theodor was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI and McKenzie Smith was 1-for-2.

Graham (8-0, 6-0 CBC) hosts Urbana in a make-up game today.

Cardinals win in softball

TROY – Triad defeated Troy, 5-4, in non-league softball on Thursday.

Abby Ehrenborg was 3-for-4 with a double, Madison Dolby was 2-for-3 and Ali Dixon was 2-for-3 with a double.

Triad was able to scratch across a couple of runs in the top of the 7th to claim the victory.

Triad (5-1) plays at Greeneview on Friday.

Cardinals baseball falls

TROY – Troy beat Triad, 6-4, in non-league baseball on Thursday.

Trent McIntyre had a double and 2 RBI for Triad.

Tigers’ jayvee teams win

The WL-S jayvee softball team beat Northeastern, 8-1. Laura Neer, Maddie Estes, Shea Teets and Tory Cordell each had 2 hits. Cordell hit a solo home run.

The WL-S jayvee baseball team defeated Northeastern, 12-11. Jacob VanHorn was 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored. Ian Clark and Cayden Whitman each had 3 RBI.

UHS tennis prevails

Urbana beat Tecumseh, 3-2, in CBC boys tennis.

UHS (4-0, 3-0) won all three singles matches and lost the doubles matches.

“Just an unbelievable battle … so proud of all of my guys and how hard they fought. Tecumseh is a great team, and it was an awesome comeback by my guys,” said UHS Coach Brett Stewart.
