The Urbana Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met on Monday, Jan. 11, at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Urbana, Ohio with 14 members in attendance. The meeting opened with special dates followed by the DAR opening Ritual.

President General’s Report was read by Pat Detwiler and the National Defense Report was given by Margaret Denzer.

A thank you note from a Vietnam Veteran was read. He was one of many veterans who sincerely thanked us for our November program honoring the Vietnam Veterans.

Chaplain’s Report was given by Chaplain Lana Seeberg.

Registrar’s Report by Betty Driever stated that as of Jan. 11, the Urbana Chapter DAR has 84 members, 11 associate members and six prospective members. Regent Judi Henson reported on the Guardian Trust Fund Campaign which involves the renovation and upkeep of Constitution Hall, Washington, D.C. Members were encouraged to subscribe to the American Spirit Magazine. The January issue of the Ohio DAR Newsletter is available online at www.ohiodar.org. Becky Shultz has a featured article on our November meeting.

Members were given the Chapter Master Report and after much discussion and “thought sharing,” it was completed. The CMR will be edited and entered on the online forms and sent electronically to the OSDAR State Chairmen for reports and awards. The Chapter Achievement Award form was also completed in the same manner. Again, this year our Urbana Chapter received a Level 1 rating. This represents a very healthy and active chapter.

Announcements – Regent Henson challenged committee chairmen to offer program ideas for the upcoming year prior to the June meeting. The next meeting will be Monday, Feb. 15 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. The American History Essay Awards will be presented. All members are asked to bring cookies for the event. Hostesses for the meeting will be Chairman Alta Kay Holmes, Ina Mae Wagner, Ashley Wagner and Jeanette Enyart.
