Mechanicsburg girls bowlers place fifth

DAYTON – The Mechanicsburg girls bowling team finished in fifth place at the Pirate Challenge tournament in Dayton on Saturday.

The Indians were led by Ally Hosier who rolled a 570 to finish in second place as an individual and Lauren Mayberry who rolled a 551 to finish third as an individual. Both Hosier and Mayberry made the All-Tournament Team.

In addition, Michaela Edwards rolled a 145-161-208/514, Katie Bush had a 173-179-133/485, Jenna Alspaugh had games of 177 and 195 and Miranda Keene added a 135.

The Indians rolled a 3,445 in the qualifying round for a second-place finish to advance to the championship round.

In the championship round, they lost 2-1 to West Carrollton for the fifth-place finish.

Tiger wrestlers compete

The West Liberty-Salem varsity wrestling team competed at the Jonathan Alder Invitational on Saturday.

Tanner Workman recorded a pin on his way to a third-place finish.

Ely Serna also had a pin and finished fifth at the invitational.

The Tigers wrestle next at the Thunderbird Invitational at Lima Central Catholic High School on Jan. 29-30.

Junior high wrestling

West Liberty-Salem was at the Mechanicsburg Invitational on Saturday.

Zayne Reed was second at 172 pounds. He was 3-1 in the tournament with 2 pins. He is now 25-3 for the season.

UU games rescheduled

The Wheeling Jesuit at UU basketball doubleheader will be played today beginning at 5:30 p.m.
