The driver of a vehicle involved in a crash earlier this week remained hospitalized on Wednesday.

According to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, Wayne A. Reichle, 51, of Madison County, was in serious condition at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, as of Wednesday afternoon.

On Monday at 3:59 p.m., dispatch received a call in reference to a two-vehicle auto accident with injuries located on East state Route 29 at the intersection of Three Mile Road. Champaign County sheriff deputies along with the Urbana Fire Division responded to the scene.

An investigation into the crash revealed that a bronze 2005 Pontiac driven by Cody L. Agee, 25, of Springfield, was travelling northbound on Three Mile Road and failed to yield at the stop sign. This caused his vehicle to strike a black 2014 Honda Civic driven by Reichle.

Paramedics at the scene tended to Reichle, who was taken to Miami Valley Hospital via CareFlight.

The crash remained under investigation as of Wednesday afternoon.
