NORTH LEWISBURG – The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash believed to have taken place on Sunday evening.

Champaign County Sheriff Matt Melvin stated Monday that Trevor Conley, 31, of North Lewisburg, was driving a 2000 GMC Sonoma southbound on Gilbert Road when he lost control, exited the west side of the roadway, came back across the roadway and exited the east side where several trees were struck.

Melvin said crash was believed to have occurred between 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., but was called in at 7:02 a.m. He stated Conley was the only occupant in the vehicle.

Alcohol and speed are believed to have been factors of the crash.

Champaign County Coroner Dr. Joshua Richards along with the Northeast Champaign County Fire District also responded to the scene.
