SPRINGFIELD – If you enjoy a good mystery, folk music or a colorful stage production, the Clark State Performing Arts Center, 300 S. Fountain Ave. in Springfield, is the place to be in October.

“We are excited to bring three completely diverse events to Springfield,” said Clark State Performing Arts Center Executive Director Adele Adkins.

The Aquila Theatre Company of London will present “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15. The legendary and surprising sleuth Sherlock Holmes takes the stage in this witty, fast-paced production. In addition to its adaptation of “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes,” the Aquila Theatre Company of London will give workshops and lectures at each Clark State campus.

Singer and songwriter Arlo Guthrie will present “Alice’s Restaurant 50th Anniversary Tour” at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16. The show will feature Abe Guthrie, Terry A La Berry, Bobby Sweet and Darren Todd while folk icon Guthrie brings to the stage, for the first time in a decade, The Alice’s Restaurant Massacre in its entirety.

The National Broadway Tour of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” drops in for a one-time performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. The show is co-presented with the Springfield Arts Council. Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” is a family musical about the trials and triumphs of Joseph.
