West Liberty-Salem junior Morgan Freyhof received Academic All-Ohio honors from the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches over the weekend.

To earn the honor, athletes must have a 3.5 or better GPA and compete at the OHSAA State Meet Championships.

This marks the 13th time in five years that a member of the WL-S girls track and field team has earned the honor.

Freyhof placed seventh in the state in the 100-meter dash on Saturday in Division III.

Youth sports

In 8U baseball, Markin’s Water Pump Service beat Moose, 15-10. Colton Lafferty and Grady Lantz were standouts for Markin’s. Zeke Wasson and Brady Lowe were standouts for Moose.

Markin’s defeated Steve Austin, 10-8. Larkin Moore and Brayden Spriggs were standouts for Markin’s. Brayden King and Jack Wright were standouts for Austin.
