COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A prosecutor is warning central Ohio residents to be wary of thieves stealing pickup truck tailgates.
Columbus City Attorney Richard Pfeiffer (FEYE’-fuhr) says the trend appears to have arrived in the area following reports of similar thefts in Arizona, California and Texas.
Pfeiffer said Wednesday the cost to replace or repair tailgates could near $3,000 for newer model trucks equipped with backup cameras and other electronics.
Pfeiffer says a warrant has been issued for a 66-year-old Columbus man caught with four stolen tailgates.
