PRISONERS-MISUSED COMPUTERS

COLUMBUS — Two prisoners took computers from a disassembly program and used them to access their prison’s network, create inmate passes for restricted areas, and apply for credit cards under another inmate’s name for a planned tax fraud scheme, Ohio’s government watchdog says. COAL EXECUTIVE DEATH

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — A Delphos, Ohio, man pleads guilty in the fatal shooting of a former coal executive in southern West Virginia. SENT: 370 words.

— SERIAL KILLER-PRISON BEATING: A union representing corrections officers says the suspect in the fatal prison beating of a serial killer dubbed the “Angel of Death” was a fellow Ohio inmate also in a protective custody unit.

— OHIO FAMILY KILLED: The state approves a request to help pay for the funeral of a woman killed in last year’s southern Ohio massacre of eight people.

— XGR–OHIO BUDGET-BIRTH DEFECTS: Ohio House Republicans reject Gov. John Kasich’s proposal to close a state office that helps parents of children with medical challenges pay certain bills not covered by their insurance.

— MLK III-OHIO: The son of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. has been honored by members of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus.
