COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Police say a man accused of stabbing his roommate has been charged with felonious assault and harassment with a bodily fluid in Ohio’s capital city.
Columbus Police said Friday that 22-year-old Ezra Cason was charged in the stabbing Thursday of Melanie Chica in a house near Ohio State University.
Court records didn’t show an attorney for Cason.
Investigators say Cason threatened a man who was visiting and then stabbed his 22-year-old roommate in the neck after the visitor ran out of the house. Investigators say Cason fled when police arrived, and an officer shot at and missed him.
Police say Cason was apprehended nearby and spit on an officer as he was taken into custody.
Cason had cuts to his arms. Both he and Chica were hospitalized in stable condition.
This story has been corrected to show that police now say the stabbing victim is 22, not 19.
