COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Warren John F. Kennedy won its first title since 1991 with a 24-6 win over Minter in the Division VII state football final on Saturday at Ohio Stadium.
JFK’s Evan Boyd set the Division VII title game record for yards (166) and carries (36), including a 39-yard touchdown with 3:10 to left in the game to seal the win.
Boyd also had a 1-yard TD run in the third quarter to make it 17-6.
Earlier, a 1-yard run by Greg Valent and a 29-yard field goal by Justin Bofenkamp gave the Eagles (14-1) a 10-6 halftime lead after Jared Huelsman opened the scoring for Minster (10-5) with a 1-yard run in the first quarter.
JFK had allowed an average of 6.6 points per game entering the title game.
