COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A 19-year-old in Ohio has pleaded guilty to a robbery that happened just before Columbus police fatally shot a 13-year-old in September.
Demetrius Braxton pleaded guilty Tuesday and has agreed to testify against others as part of a plea deal.
Braxton has told police he was with a group including 13-year-old Tyre (teye-REE’) King on the night of the shooting.
Braxton told The Columbus Dispatch that Tyre had a BB gun that looked like a real firearm and wanted to rob someone.
Police say Tyre was shot after he ran from an officer investigating the armed robbery and pulled out what appeared to be a gun.
The case will go to a grand jury following a police investigation to determine whether officers will face charges.
