Convenience store employee killed in Cleveland robbery

CLEVELAND (AP) — Police say a 42-year-old convenience store employee has died after he was shot in the head during an armed robbery in Cleveland’s Mount Pleasant neighborhood.

Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia says the fatal robbery occurred at the Kwick Food Market on East 116th Street around 8 p.m. Monday.

The victim was rushed to University Hospitals, where he later was pronounced dead. Police have not yet released his identity.

Relatives tell WJW-TV that the victim was part-owner of the store and a father of six.

Police are looking for a man who was wearing a blue hoodie, grey sweatpants and yellow shoes in connection with the crime.

Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate.
