ASHTABULA, Ohio (AP) — Officials say a police officer shot and killed a man suspected in an armed robbery in northeast Ohio.
Police Chief Robert Stell tells The Star Beacon in Ashtabula (ash-tuh-BYOO’-luh) (http://bit.ly/2fB3vwV ) officers were called to a Family Video store in Ashtabula on Tuesday night for an armed robbery.
Stell says the suspect fled in a vehicle and that an officer in pursuit made contact with the suspect. Stell says the officer fired at the suspect, who died from his injury.
The newspaper says the suspect had a gun, but that it’s unclear whether it was pointed or fired at police.
The identity of the suspect hasn’t been released.
Stell says the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation is investigating the shooting.
