CLEVELAND (AP) — Funeral arrangements have been set for a high school football player from suburban Cleveland who authorities say was hit in the abdomen during a game and died two days later from a problem caused by a lacerated small intestine.
Euclid (YOO’-klid) City Schools says a viewing is planned for 17-year-old Andre Jackson from noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 7 at the Rogers Funeral Home in Cleveland.
His funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. the following day at the Starlight Baptist Church in East Cleveland.
Authorities have said Jackson died at a hospital on Sunday of peritonitis.
The district says the junior was involved in a collision during a punt play last week. He walked to the team’s sideline afterward.
Jackson was hospitalized in Beachwood and released the following day.
