Schools in several northeast Ohio counties to close for heat

CLEVELAND (AP) — Schools in several northeast Ohio counties will be closed Thursday due to heat, humidity and air conditioning issues.

The Constellation Schools charter network says more than 10 of its school buildings in Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) and Lorain counties will be closed Thursday.

The Massillon (MAS’-ih-luhn) City Schools District in Stark County says three elementary schools will also be closed, though preschool, middle school, junior high and high schools will remain open.

Noble Academy Cleveland in Euclid (YOO’-klid) is closed on Thursday as well.

Temperatures are expected to remain around 90 degrees on Thursday.

Ten Cleveland Metropolitan School District schools dismissed early on Wednesday due to heat. A district spokeswoman says those schools don’t have air conditioning. The district hasn’t announced any closures for Thursday.
