Man killed in triple stabbing identified; suspects sought

OREGON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities have identified a man killed in a triple stabbing during a fireworks display at a state park in northwest Ohio.

The Lucas County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Karl Avery and two other adults were stabbed Saturday night on a beach at Maumee Bay State Park in the Toledo suburb of Oregon. Authorities say Avery died at a hospital. The other two people who were stabbed were treated at a hospital and released.

The Blade in Toledo reports authorities are searching for three men and two women, but they suspect only one man stabbed Avery and the others.

Authorities have said they believe the stabbings are gang-related. They also suspect one of those stabbed may have been a gang member.
