Developer plans hotel, shops near Toledo casino

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — A developer is planning to build a new hotel and shopping complex near Toledo’s Hollywood Casino.

The plans include restaurants and even an aerial gondola that will connect to the casino.

Casino owner Penn National Gaming says it’s not an investor in the project but supports it.

The new development will cover about 20 acres in suburban Rossford where the casino opened about four years ago.

Plans call for about 25 boutique and higher-end specialty shops along with three or four restaurants.

A Toledo-area developer behind the project tells The Blade newspaper that it will cost about $70-$85 million.

Backers say work should begin in little less than a year.
