Crash with garbage truck kills 4 in rural southwestern Ohio

ORLAND, Ohio (AP) — The State Highway Patrol says four people were killed when a garbage truck collided with a car in rural southeastern Ohio.

Troopers say the crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of state Routes 56 and 93 near Orland, roughly 55 miles southeast of Columbus in Vinton County. The patrol says four people in the car died, and the truck driver wasn’t hurt.

A dispatcher for the patrol’s Jackson post said further information about what caused the crash and the identities of the people who died weren’t immediately available as troopers remained at the scene.
